This has been achieved on behalf of a wide range of customers including enterprise, service provider and hyperscale cloud companies. As data centres grow in importance, security remains paramount. Data – often described as the “crown jewels” of the modern economy – requires rigorous physical and digital protection, supported by robust access controls and resilient site infrastructure.  

 

The sector’s designation as critical national infrastructure reflects this significance. Key Ark sites have held this status since 2015 through Crown Hosting, Ark’s joint venture with the Cabinet Office, supporting the UK public sector and aligning with national data sovereignty priorities .
